For over 25 years the Commercial Real Estate Golf Tournament has been a highlight of the Northern California social/networking calendar.

Fielding over 100 golfers, it brings together brokers, agents and service providers for a full day of comradery and fun.  Non-players join the festivities at a massive Awards Banquet featuring live music, dozens of door prizes and over 30 awards honoring talented, or lucky, players.  Dozens of sponsors add to the thrill with hardy greetings at the holes, gifts and prizes, and of course, lots of refreshments.

The first tournament was organized in 1998 by Terry Shores, newly-hired Executive Director of San Franisco’s Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM). Invited were members of CCIM, BOMA and the region’s CREW chapters.  It was a huge success, selling out the 144 player slots and filling the outdoor reception area at the new Wente Gardens golf course in Livermore.

When Shores also went to work for NorCal CCIM in 2003, it joined IREM as a co-host of the annual event and that tradition continued for the next 13 years.  In 2019 the CRE Tournament was re-booted with NorCal CCIM and CREW East Bay as its hosts.

Over the years, the tournament moved around the East Bay giving players and non-players a vast variety of challenges, scenery and party venues.  Every year the tournament got better, adding new enhancements like putting contests, shootouts, hole-in-one contests, rookie clinics, door prizes and silent auctions. And every year the Awards Banquet grew in popularity, establishing itself as a must-attend networking event on the social calendar.
